Trish’s graduate work in Experimental Psychology (PhD) provides her with a firm foundation for qualitative and quantitative research. For fifteen years in Bell Northern Research and Nortel Trish carried out primary research, interviewed or surveyed hundreds of executives and customers, and also managed large quantitative research projects. The ability to synthesize the key messages, and build frameworks from the data is one of Trish’s key differentiators.
One of the areas of expertise for Trish is 360 degree feedback. From 2004-2008 Trish lead the 360 degree feedback process for Nortel globally. An important aspect of the project was creating development plans with the executives, and monitoring year over year progress. One of the most interesting analyses that she pulled from the data was an understanding of what behaviors the executives were rewarding within the company, and how those differed by global region.
Trish is passionate about helping people reach their potential, which is what lead her to achieve her coaching certification. Since 2000 Trish has coached future Nortel executives – a group of emerging leaders that were identified for fast-track development. Being a senior manager in Nortel for 15 years has provided Trish with a practical perspective on being a leader, and what it takes to develop people in a typical business environment. Trish’s staff summarized her catalyzing ability as “seeing the light in us and helping it shine brighter”.
While at Nortel Trish was an integral part of developing HR strategies, and implementation of those strategies. She was accountable for the employee engagement strategy, owned the end-to-end global strategy and processes for recruitment, lead the manager effectiveness and leadership programs, and also managed large global teams (+100 people). The hands-on experience of working in a large global company provides Trish with valuable perspective when she is coaching.
